Women will always like a hero. There's nothing more manly than a man who's brave, true and just... unfortunately, very few of us actually are. A few well-placed good deeds, however, will have a fair maiden swooning at your heroic conduct.

Some of these strategies may seem far-fetched, but they will all get the job done. They're designed to make you look good in front of the ladies, with little work on your part. All you need are some good friends and some spare change.

Just remember; use these tips at your own risk. And just in case you're actually thinking of taking this article seriously, let me be clear that it's meant as a joke.

Save an animal from a tree
Shove an animal up a tree. It doesn't matter what kind of animal, as long as it will look frightened and remain in that tree for long enough for her to witness you saving it. Little kittens are ideal -- pick one up at the ASPCA.

Try and let her spot the animal in trouble by steering the conversation towards nature and how much you love hugging trees and rolling around on the lawn. When she spots the distressed creature, do not hesitate and spring into action (avoid humming the Superman theme tune as you do so). After the heroic deed is done, give the animal to her -- she'll be dazzled by your gentle, caring nature.

Foil a robbery
We all saw this work in the movie Mr. Deeds , so why shouldn't it in real life? Conspire with a good mate (to be dressed in a fashionable balaclava) to have him snatch your date's purse as you take a leisurely stroll through a secluded park. Make sure there are no other recreational walkers around to steal your thunder or beckon the police.

As you distract her with a proclamation of your longing to join Greenpeace, let your good friend grab the purse. Begin the chase, getting far away enough to be out of earshot, but close enough that she can still see your heroic tackle. Rain down blows upon your friend as you promise to buy him a beer for every bruise you inflict. As you retrieve the purse, let him conveniently escape and exclaim that at least you got her property back. Show concern as she makes sure that nothing is missing. Graciously accept a kiss.

Join Greenpeace
Here's your chance to give her the impression that you're not all talk. Orchestrate a candlelit dinner and confess that you have fulfilled your longing and joined Greenpeace. Admit again to your lifelong dream to swim free with the penguins... after you've scrubbed all the oil off the little suckers. Exclaim that you will be called into action in a week, so you'd both better make the most of your remaining time together.

Construct and mail yourself a letter the following day declaring that Greenpeace already has too many volunteers, so you have been made an honorary, inactive member. She'll be delighted that you'll be staying, and still in awe of your selfless gesture. Remark that, unlike penguins, you like to be massaged with oil.

Save a drowning child
Here's your chance to be more heroic than David Hasselhoff. While at the beach or any other public body of water, find a child willing to be bribed. Try for a little redhead boy; they are usually the most corrupt. Make the deal. Later, as you are sensually applying lotion to your date's back, exclaim that a child is drowning.

Make sure you are wearing red trunks, la Hasselhoff, and dash in without fear of consequence to your own life. Pull the poor child to safety. As he hugs you in gratitude, slip the 50 you promised him. Be modest as she insists on putting more lotion on your back.

Put out a fire
Women rate firemen as sexy. Show her you are brave enough to take on one of nature's fiercest elements. Save yourself the risk of property damage and be an amateur arsonist at her place. Tinker with some detergents and ensure that the oven is carelessly left on -- make sure to engineer the disaster so that the flames will spread to the curtains.

Sit back and watch women's gymnastics together, until she comments that something smells like smoke. Investigate together and feign horror at her blazing kitchen. Dash in with the fire extinguisher you always keep in your car. While she praises your dangerous and heroic deed, make fire hose innuendoes.

Keep pouring her large goblets of wine and, once it has done its job on her bladder, wait for the ear-piercing scream. Rush in and vow to take care of the errant beast. Capture it with the snake tongs you always keep in your car and gently release it into the wild, or hand it over to the professionals. Women have a soft spot for the weak... and a softer spot for the strong that defend the weak. Rely on your largest friend to act as a callous bully when you take your date to the movies. As he helps himself to the popcorn of defenseless children and ridicules the elderly, proclaim to her your intention to be the savior of the cinema.

Initiate the charade by announcing your ability to shatter a man with tae kwon do, and then go into the Karate Kid crane stance. After the signal wink, he'll retreat, leaving you to accept the thanks and adoration of the audience and your date. She will be delighted that you defused the situation without violence. This one will be damn near impossible, but if you can pull it off you'll be remembered forever by your adoring date. Hang around your pregnant friends and relatives and be ready for when nature takes its course. Donning your rubber gloves you always keep in your pocket, make sure that the woman in labor is okay with you tinkering south of the border. Remember shows like ER and Chicago Hope , and calmly recite the lines, "Keep pushing" and "You're doing fine... hang in there."

Graciously accept all praise and thanks from onlookers when you are holding the screaming bundle of joy. When your date displays awe, hold up your hands and express amazement at how they brought life into the world.

Let her have the remote
This is the ultimate act of sacrifice for a man.

Plan a romantic evening in front of the tube. Have all the essentials on hand: candles, chocolate-covered strawberries and a few Meg Ryan videos. Remember; no pain, no gain. As you settle down to surf the satellite, hand her the remote and tell her to find something good. This blatant sacrifice of control and concern for your own selfish needs will have her mesmerized. Then, with your two hands now free, clasp them behind your head and let her feed you strawberries.

It's amazing what a little bit of effort and a devious plan can achieve... provided she never finds out about it. But then again, even if she does, she might appreciate the effort you put in. Google Chrome OS cometh

It has long been speculated that Google may have been working on their own operating system and finally the speculation is over - Google are to launch a new web based OS called Google Chrome OS. My first thoughts when seeing the headline was pretty much the same thoughts I had when people were speculating about a possible OS venture by Google “Its probably a version of Linux”. Surprisingly and much to my delight its not based on any operating system at all its going to be built from the ground up.

Personally I full heartedly welcome the introduction of a new OS to the Operating System arena especially one by the likes of Google. I think another OS adds more options and more options can only be good for the consumer. It keeps all the other OS vendors on their toes and forces them to make their OS’s better and more reliable and by other OS vendors of course I am referring to Microsoft, Apple and Linux. Google has the corporate muscle to push an operating system to market that will get it taken seriously.

Now its all very well having a new Operating System but its pretty much useless without software. A brand new operating system is going to need applications pretty fast to catch up with the likes of the other OS vendors out there who have thousands (probably millions) of applications already. I would have it as a guess that Google would first push its browser which would then support its other web based applications such as Google Docs, Google Spreadsheet and Google Wave. Maybe the browser will be an integral part of the OS with heavy usage of Google Gears? Google are also going to want the likes of Adobe Flash on their OS, otherwise content from the likes of Google’s company YouTube would not work on their OS along with other popular web apps. One of my questions is, just how far will Google venture into the OS market? Will we see Google for workgroups or possibly a Google OS appliance server as we do with their search appliance?

i wanted to clear the long scandal prevailing... so i wanted to be acted as a journalist 4 some days and.. put my engiNeering HEAD into journals...

January 7, 2009

On January 7, 2009, Ramalinga Raju has submitted his resignation admitting financial wrong-doing by sending an email to the Board of Directors and the Stock Exchanges. Raju's fraud is considered the biggest in Indian Corporate history and hence the scandal is termed 'Indian Enron'. Ram Mynampati took charge as Interim CEO (pending ratification by the Board). Soon after Raju's admission, the Satyam stock price took a free fall on Indian stock exchanged and closed the day down by 77%. The BSE Sensex itself closed down by 7% after heavy selling with Realty stock getting hammered after Corporate Governance and disclosures of many companies got doubted. The SEBI announced it will probe into the recent activities at Satyam. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has called for a CB-CID probe into the irregularities. Security is enhanced at all Satyam facilities and police forces are deployed to ensure no untoward incident takes places.

January 8, 2009

The Interim CEO Ram Mynampati, along with his senior team spoke at a press conferance at Satyam Headquarters. Ram said he is not aware of the financial mismangement at Satyam and that all leaders are taken by surprise and shock. Having taken the role of Interim CEO, he said his team's immediate responsibility is to assess the verasity of the statement made by Raju and he and his leaders are reaching out to their stakeholders and working for business continuity. He said that the teams at Satyam are reaching to their top clients and updating them of the developments. The Top 100 Clients of Satyam contribute to 80% revenues and the top leaders are personally reaching out to them. The next level Satyam leadership is reaching out the other clients in a bid to retain the client relationships.

January 9, 2009

Minister of Corporate Affairs P C Gupta said the Indian Government has invoked section 234A of the Company's Act. This enabled the Registrar of Companies to obtain search and seizure order from the judicial magistrate in Hyderabad on January 8, 2009 at 6:00 PM. Gupta said that the SEBI and the officials of the RoC are in Satyam office and collecting and ceasing documents so that they are not forged later.

A Satyam report was out that it is not handing pinkslip to 10,000-odd employees as reported in the press. It also reported that the salaries of its 53000-odd employees for the month of January 09 will be honored. Reports say Satyam needs about Rs. 500 crores to honor salary commitments.

Rumours are out that CFO Srinivas Valdamani has attempted suicide but Satyam sources denied the reports.

January 10, 2009

As announced earlier, the Satyam Board meeting of its earlier Directors is cancelled following Government stepping in. Government sources says the arrest of Rajus is a well co-ordinated action. Sources say SEBI and CID teams are interrogating Srinivas Vadlami about the scam and that he is likely to taken to police headquarters. Sources report that the Andhra Pradesh Government is lobbying for upto 3 positions in the new Satyam board.

The Raju brothers are sent to judicial custody till January 23, 2009 and are shifted to Chanchanlguda Jail. CFO Vadlamani Srinivas is interrogated at DGP Office and is later arrested by the police.

Media reports say that Bank statements are missing from the documents seized yesterday by the investigating agencies.

Employees of Satyam Computers have written to the Finance Ministry to direct Banks not to lower their credit card limits. Leading Banks ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have sent SMSs on January 9/10 to Sayam Employees having credit cards informing them that their credit card limits are lowered.

Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India said it is open to be a member on the Satyam board. LIC said that big investors are intouch with one another about the developments. Satyam's largest shareholder Lazard is reported to have asked for a position on the Satyam Board to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Media reports say that a senior member from Lazard is flying to India to take its representation forward. The Minister said that they are reviewing it. The Ministry have given the representation to the Prime Ministers Office (PMO) which will finalize the list of members on the board.

New Satyam board speaks with the press

The newly appointed Independent Directors of Satyam addressed a press conference at the Satyam Headquarters at 5:30 PM. The Directors said that their top priority is to restore confidence amongst the stakeholders. They felt the need to restate the Q3 results and hence are in the process of appointing an independent audit firm for the job. Two audit firms are already reached for the job and one amongst them is likely to be allotted the work. The Directors said that more members will be appointed by the Government shortly. They said that they will be meeting more often for the next few days but said that their job is not to manage the company on a day-to-day basis. They said that a CEO and CFO will be appointed shortly and that the company needs �fresh blood� hinting that the two top jobs will be given to a Satyam-outside.

Considering of the bad situation in which Satyam is in at the moment, they said that no bank will be willing to give money to them unless the Q3 results are restated. Once banks get the confidence, the problem of liquidity can be well addressed. Considering that Satyam has AAA grade customers, reaching out to them and asking for advances for the receivables is another solution possible. They said that �large amount of receivables are due� and if they come on time, liquidity with the company should be adequate.

Speaking on the status of Pricewater House Coopers, the Directors said that the appointment of auditors of the company will be decided by the shareholders at the next General Body Meeting.

The Directors said that they have no plans to talk with the Rajus for now.

Speaking on immunity from law suits, they said that Satyam has not yet asked the Government for protection / shield from the law firms but said they will require considering that the
immediate job is get the company back to running.

THE QUESTION MARK STATUS OVER THE 53,000 EMPLOYEES IN SATYAM

"As a result, sourcing and IT executives need to actively review their exposure to the company and their options as a cloud of uncertainty hangs over the company," it said.

"Both clients and employees will desert Satyam as a result of competitive wooing. In our interactions with several of Satyam's employees across the organization they showed utter frustration. Large and small clients alike will look to other suppliers they already work with as an immediate fallback position as the confusion continues. More than half a dozen providers have already called Forrester to discuss competitive strategies for taking over business in joint accounts," it added.

"There could be a shift in customer loyalties. The solution for global customers will be delivered by multinationals if not Indian players,"
